Georgia USAG rules and policies

State Meet Qualification

  • To qualify for a compulsory state meet, a gymnast must score a 32.00 AA one time – in or out of state
  • To qualify for an optional state meet, a gymnast must score a 32.00 AA once- in or out of state
  • To qualify for an Xcel state meet, a gymnast must score a 32.00 AA once- in or out of state
  • It is the responsibility of the coach to send the scores to the state score chair for out of state meets.
  • Event specialist for level 6-10 and Xcel Platinum or Diamond must score a 9.2 once on that event- in or out of state
  • All State meet qualifying scores must be earned while being judged by a two-judge panel.
  • There will be a fall state meet for all compulsory levels and Xcel Bronze.  
  • There will be a spring state meet for all optional levels and all Xcel levels except for Bronze.

State Meet Entry/ Qualification Deadline/Declaration Date

  • All athletes must be entered into and paid for their state meet four weeks prior to the state meet.  They have two additional weeks to meet their qualification score if necessary.
  • An athlete is only considered entered in the meet after her name is listed on the club’s entry form and the meet director has received valid payment.
  • Judging panels will change events from preliminaries to state team finals.  
  • The declaration date for the fall state meets is October 15th, and the declaration date for the spring state meets is February 15th. After the declaration date, the athlete can only compete in the level she plans to compete at the state meet.

Team Finals

  • Team finals will be held at Level 3 and Level 4 state meet.
  • The top 8 teams will qualify to event finals with top 4 scores counting
  • Each team will compete 6 athletes on each event with 4 scores counting

Age Divisions at State meet 

All athletes will be divided by birth date into equal sessions.  A member of the GA state committee will draw each session in order to determine competition order.  

State Meet Entry Fees

  • Compulsory and Xcel Bronze, Silver and Gold $95 
  • Optionals and Xcel Platinum/Diamond/Sapphire $105 
  • Team $60 
  • Team finals $100.  Spectators will have to pay a second door fee to enter team finals.
  • A $50 late fee per gymnast will be assessed for late entries and must be enforced by the meet director.

  • Children 12& under $5
  • Adults $15 
  • Seniors (over 60) $5

Athlete Fee

Every USAG sanctioned competition in Georgia is required to report scores and pay an Athlete Fee of $2 per competing athlete to Georgia USAG with required meet forms.

Qualifying to Regionals

  • Levels 6, 7 & 8 will qualify to Regionals by a percentage from the state meet.  Exact numbers will be given a week prior to the meet.  Event specialists may not qualify to regionals at these levels.
  • Level 9s will qualify to the Regionals by scoring a 35.00 AA at the State meet.
  • Level 10s will qualify to the Regionals by scoring a 35.00 AA at the State meet.
  • Level 9 event specialists will qualify to Regionals by scoring a 9.3 at the State meet.
  • Level 10 event specialists will qualify to Regionals by scoring a 9.3 at the State meet.
  • Xcel Bronze and Silver– no regionals   
  • Xcel Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Sapphire athletes will qualify to Regionals by a percentage from the state meet. Exact numbers will be given a week prior to the meet.
  • Event specialists may not qualify to regionals at any Xcel levels.

USAG Dress Code

Dress in appropriate attire that reflects the best image of gymnastics.

At State meets and above, the coaches’ dress code is as follows:

  • Athletic shoes with rubberized soles. Athletic warm-up pants or “Docker-syle” pants (No jeans).
  • Athletic or tailored shorts that are of a reasonable length. No holes, tears or short shorts.
  • Collared shirts, business casual shirts or T-shirts with gym logo. (No spaghetti straps, low-cut tops or midriff revealing shirts). No hats or visors.

USA Gymnastics EVENT PHOTO & VIDEO POLICY

Limitations on Activity, Unauthorized Use, and Distribution

For considerations of liability, participant safety, and overall event enjoyment, family members/coaches are permitted to photograph and/or video their participant only from the designated spectator seating areas so as to not interfere with nor disrupt (i) any portion of the event; (ii) event participants and their performance; (iii) the intended use of public areas; and/or (iv) the viewing ability of others. All photos and videos taken during the event must be for personal use only.

Unauthorized commercial use, sale, or third party distribution of photos and videos from this event is strictly prohibited without prior written consent from USA Gymnastics. Violators are subject to immediate removal from the event and potentially held liable for any damage, or perceived damage, associated with the violation.

Prohibited Equipment: No Monopod, No Tripod, No Telephoto Lens greater than 6 inches or 200mm. For the safety of the athletes, No Camera Flash is allowed during the event
