Meeting called to order by Peggy Simpson, Chair, at 2:00 p.m.

New Business:

  1. Guest Gwyned Bius, GA-NAWGJ Booking/Contracts Chair, presented the problems that non-Metro Atlanta gyms are having. These gyms cannot get the higher-rated officials and this causes other non-metro gyms to think twice about competing in these meets.

    • There are currently too many meets per weekend for the number of judges available
    • Experienced judges tend to take metro meets
    • A proposal to have a different way of putting meets on the competitive calendar was presented and discussed.

Peggy Simpson will address these issues in a letter to be mailed to the USAG membership in early 2005. It was proposed that a calendar meeting be held in conjunction with the state compulsory/optional clinic in June 2005.

  2. Regional Apparel - Judy Miller presented a catalogue from Motionwear for regional tank leotards - good prices for a peach-and-black tank. Dreamlight will continue to provide the team leotard.
Motion: Level 8 Regional competitors get a leo, can buy jacket
Level 9 Regional competitors get a jacket and leo, can buy pants
Level 8 State Team competitors get jacket, pants and leotard
Level 10 Regional competitorsget warm up suit, leo, tank and scrunchies.
Moved - Judy Miller, 2nd Sennie Clark - Passed

  3. TOPS report - Judy Miller reported that the leo for the National TOPS testing worked well. Peggy will put in the next newsletter that participants are expected to wear these leotards.

Eight gymnasts made National A or B TOPS and will go to the training camp. The A camp participants have their registration paid - B must pay for their own.

There will be no more Regional TOPS Reps, only State.

  4. GA-USAG Board members who wish to go to the National Compulsory Clinics will fill out and return an application in the next newsletter.

  5. The Georgia Compulsory/Optional Clinic will be at Roswell Rec on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 24-25-26, 2005. Marian Dykes will be the clinician. Peggy asked for each board member to be there and help with this important clinic.

  6. In the future, all bids for State Meets must have a signed contract in place before being awarded that meet.

  7. Sennie and Cynthia will determine the number of graduating seniors at the state optional meet. There is a possibility that the 2005 meet will be moved from Pace Academy.

  8. Sheila asked if dress codes for coaches at state meets were still in force. She proposed that this requirement might be hard to enforce if all meet personnel were not asked to dress appropriately. No cell phones are to be turned on by meet personnel, including runners and flashers.

  9. In the future, all 12 teams to compete in compulsory team competition will be awarded with recognition

The next meeting will be set by Peggy Simpson.
