Georgia USAG Board Meeting
Sunday, November 11, 2006 - Gymnastix (Level 6 State)

Present: Peggy Simpson, Brock White, Gwyned Bius, Drew Davis, Bobby Allen, Judy Miller, Michelle Pomerantz, Chris Calvert, Becky Oppenheimer
Absent: Dennis Hayden, Sennie Clark (arrived at conclusion of meeting).

Peggy Simpson, Georgia Chair, called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m.

  1. Donation to charity selected by athletes: possible charities could be Camp Sunshine (cancer) and Make a Wish Foundation.
  2. Motion: Set aside money for gymnasts who may be dealing with family crises. The request must be submitted, in writing, to the Board – money cannot be donated directly to an athlete, i.e. booster or gym.
    • Motion Shelia Ragle, Second Gwyned Bius - passed.
  3. Apparel Report: Judy Miller reported that GK is working on a bright warm-up and leo, black with lots of sparkle. If ordered online, the GA-USAG will get funding for coaches’ shirts.
  4. Motion: The Georgia USA Board will pay for USAG membership for Board members who must submit a voucher; if already sent, this fee will be reimbursed.
    • Motion: Judy Miller, Second Becky Oppenheimer - passed.
  5. The summer clinic will be offered in June – Peggy Simpson will confer with the GA-NAWGJ Judges Training Chair, Dana Kling, to finalize a date and location.
  6. Clarification was made to when the coaches’ meeting for compulsory team finals will be – this meeting will be at the conclusion of the last session, not at the printed schedule end time.
  7. Four scores will count for team total going into finals; four scores will count for team placement.
  8. There is a 32 athlete entry minimum at Levels 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 for a state meet to be held at that level.
    • Motion: Becky Oppenheimer, second Gwyned Bius - passed.
  9. In 2007, there will be a declaration date for gymnasts to be entered into a compulsory level. This will be decided by an Ethics Committee under the direction of Drew Davis.
  10. The Board reviewed a complaint by a coach concerning inappropriate language used at a meet. Ethics Committee Chair, Drew Davis, will be the mediator in this conflict.
