Present: Kim Joye, Chris Calvert, Marian Dykes (non voting), Becky Oppenheimer, Peggy Simpson, Michelle Hegidio, Brock White, Judy Prestigiacomo, Tom Cook, Susan Durning, Wynne Hernandez, Sennie Clark (sitting in for Jay Clark).
All meet directors must be sure that coaches are signing in at meets and wearing their USA numbers. No coaches are allowed to wear any other coaches USA card or use any other coaches USA numbers. Also, no team is allowed to compete in a meet without current USA numbers.
Recommendation was made that Sheila Ragle have the judges assignment schedule for the compulsory State Meets be made by Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, and that the Optional State Meet assignments be made by Friday, Jan. 1, 2000.
Recommendation to approve the Level 5 State Meet Judging assignment.

Sennie Clark reported that the committee for the Team Competition met and addressed the small team large team issue. It was voted on to eliminate the small and large team competition. Level 5 and 6 will have a Team Finals Competition. The committee voted on having an 8 team competition. The top 8 teams at the end of the State Meet will then come back for Team Finals. The ninth place and lower teams will received their trophies at the individual awards presentation. The teams that make it into Team Finals will pick 6 gymnasts per event. These can be specialists and do not have to be all-around gymnasts. The team totals will be the top 4 scores. Finals will only be for Level 5 & 6. Level 4 will not have a team finals competition. The State Championship teams will be awarded after the State competition. There will be no large team small team awards as in previous years. Awards will be based on team entry alone, top 4 scores counting.
Team fees for Level 4/6 and Level 5 State Meets will be $35.00. An additional fee of $30.00 will be charged to each team that makes it into team finals. Payment will need to be made the day of the Team Final Championships.
A panel has been put together to establish the rules for the Team Final competition. The panel consists of Marian Dykes and Wynn Hernandez. These rules will be published in the next newsletter.

The Holiday Party this year will be held at the Georgia Center following the final session on Saturday during the Level 5 State Meet in Athens. Invitations will be sent out by the 15th of Nov. Look for you invitation in the mail.
Recommendation for the Level 4 squat vault to be lowered to a 9.0 start value. This is effective Jan. 1.

A donation to the Brian Babcock Fund has been made on behalf of the Ga. USA Gymnastics Assoc. This is to help Brian with the cost of his medical expenses. For more information on Brian you can look it up on the internet. Brian Babcock passed away on Oct. 18, 1998.
The issue of signing in at meets under another coaches USA number was discussed. A letter of reprimand went out to the gym that had a coach sign in at Judges 500 under another coach's USA number. Please be aware that this will not be tolerated. Also, a letter of reprimand went out to the gym that misrepresented the USA National Office instructions regarding Athlete numbers. This gym misquoted instructions to the meet director at Judges 500. This coach stated that this particular gym could compete at the meet even though they did not have their official USA numbers. This will no longer be allowed to happen . Coaches please be sure to wear your USA card to all meets. And be sure to carry your athletes numbers with you at all times.
