GEORGIA USA GYMNASTICS BOARD MEETING
AUGUST 21,1999


Meeting called to order at 9:13 AM. By Jackie Estes.

  1. ROLL CALL
  2. Kim Joye, Sheila Ragle, Peggy Simpson, Becky Oppenheimer, Susan Durning, Michelle Pomerantz, Brock White

    Absent: Jay Clark, Marilyn Bishop, Chris Calvert, Judy Prestigiacomo, Wynne Hernandez, Tom Cook

  3. VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR:
  4. There were Volunteer of the Year forms sent out in the last newsletter. Be sure to turn in your forms. The Volunteer of the Year will be recognized at the Annual Holiday Party.

  5. JUDGES IN GYM CRITERIA:
  6. Coaches who work in a gym and are teaching a team (not classes) may use that time as their in gym experience.

  7. ENTRY FORMS:
  8. As discussed in the last meeting, all entry forms for invitational meets should be sent to Jackie to be placed in a booklet to be sent to all gyms. At this time, very few forms have been sent. Please send in your forms so that this helpful booklet can be put together.

    All State Meet Entry Forms must be sent to Jackie Estes to placed in the Ga. USA Gymnastics Newsletter.

  9. HOSPITALITY:
  10. The money spent on sending flowers to the gymnastics community for births, deaths, weddings, etc. is becoming extremely expensive and difficult to track. The board would like to restrict the sending of flowers to only death related circumstances. All weddings, births, etc. will receive a card and a donation sent to the Athletes Apparel Fund in their name.

  11. HOLIDAY PARTY:
  12. The GGCA is in charge of the Holiday Party this year. Jackie will get the room for the party. It will once again this year be at UGA during State Meet. The information will be sent out to all coaches and judges ,as well as be published in the newsletter. The organizations listed will each make a $200 donation to the party: GGCA, NAWGJA, AAU, GA USA.

  13. LEVEL 7 PETITION:
  14. Drew Davis at Rockdale has sent in a petition to have three gymnasts at Heritage High School be petitioned into Level 7. Susan Durning and Peggy Simpson reviewed the tape for evaluation. The gymnasts were allowed to petition in to Level 7.

  15. JUDGING ASSIGNMENTS
  16. A recommendation was made to have anyone who does not turn in his judging cards and book three meets at the level he will be judging at state meet be taken off the meet and have the alternates fill that spots.
