Meeting was called to order and roll was taken by Chair, Jackie Estes.

  3. Bids for State Meets

    Recommendation to keep levels 8,9 & 10 together for State Meet and level 7 as it's own State Meet .

    Bids for level 8,9,10 State came in from Gym Unlimited and Roswell Gymnastics. Recommendation to hold State Meet at Roswell Gymnastics on March 27-28, 1998.

    Bids for Level 7 State came in from Gym Unlimited and ASG. Recommendation to hold State Meet at ASG on April 10-11 unless that is Level 8 Regionals, if so State will be held the weekend of April 17-18.

    Bids for Level 4/6 State came in from Gym Unlimited and ASG. Recommendation to hold State Meet at Gym Unlimited the weekend of Dec. 11-13.

    Bid for level 5 State came in from Classic City, Gym Unlimited, Cobb, and Tucker . Recommendation to hold State Meet at Classic City provided that they hold it in an outside facility the weekend of Dec. 5-6 1998.

    Recommendation to have a back up site available if Classic City cannot get an outside facility. The back up would be Tucker.

    It was discussed that the publication of meet is a service published in the State Newsletter and typed by Brock White. It is not the fault of the publisher that 3 or 4 meets are held on one weekend.

  4. Format of Level 8,9,10 State
  5. Recommendation to have open scoring and start values flashed at State.

    It was discussed that the format for Level 8, 9, 10 State be the same as Regionals. It was also discussed that floor music should be taped on individual tapes and no voice over music will be allowed.

  7. Recommendation that Level 4 qualifying score be a 29.00 all-around scored twice, in State.

    All scores can be attained in and out of state and it is the responsibility of the coaches to report the scores to Kim Joye as soon as possible. These scores must be recorded at least 3 weeks before State.

  8. Declaration and Qualifying Dates
  9. Declaration date for Levels 8, 9, & 10 will be Monday, March 8, 1999.
    Qualifying date for Levels 4 & 6 will be Monday, November 23, 1998.
    Qualifying date for Level 5 will be Monday, November 16, 1998.
    Qualifying date for Level 7 - T.B.A.

  10. Age Groups
  11. Recommendation that Level 4 age groups be: (6-7), (8-9), (10-11), (12+).

  12. Awards
  13. Recommendation that large trophies be used as team awards and that plaques be given out to 1st through 3rd individual all-around in every age division. Ties will also be given plaques.

  14. Entry Fees
  15. Recommendation that entry fees for Levels 4, 5, & 6 be $40.00 and $50.00 if held in an outside facility.

    Recommendation that entry fees for Levels 7, 8, 9, & 10 be $55.00 and $65.00 if held in an outside facility.

    It was discussed that a State Meet Team Championship be held on a separate weekend for all compulsory levels. The top 8 teams per level would compete in the State Team Championships. Teams may pick top 6 gymnasts per event for competition. Or to have some other type of Team finals. Tabled for further discussion at Mini-Congress State Meeting.

    A State meeting was held at Mini Congress. A vote was taken to have a State Team Competition. A committee was put together to further investigate the organization of the competition. This committee was headed by Jay Clark. Other members of this committee are Becky Oppenheimer, Andy Lucus, Brock White, Sheila Ragle, and Debbie Young.

  16. Gate Fees
  17. Recommendation that the gate fees for all State Meets be $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for children, and if held in an outside facility $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children.

    Recommendation that the fine for late meet entries be $25.00 per gymnast, as stated in the Rules and Policies and the fine for late team entries be $100.00 per Club. Entries are always due 3 weeks prior to State Meet. So, if you have not received an entry it is your responsibility to call the host gym. It is the club's responsibility to get their entries in on time.

  18. Apparel
  19. Apparel Committee - Peggy Simpson, Judy Prestiagiacomo, and Michelle Hegidio.

    Recommendation that if a gymnast qualifies to Regionals at State or petitions into Regionals, they will receive apparel, provided that all paperwork is turned in at State Meet.

    Leotards and apparel are provided as a nice gesture. Please be courteous when receiving apparel.

  20. Volunteer of the Year
  21. Recommendation that all volunteers be recognized at the Mini-Congress State Meeting. Last year's volunteers will also be recognized.

    Jackie set up a separate apparel account for the upcoming year, 70% of all competition fees will be deposited in the apparel account.

    Levels 8, 9, & 10 State Meet held at Athens lost money. It was discussed that due to the format, facility rental, and additional awards caused the loss in profit.

    USA Gymnastics magazine will now be sold at various bookstores. All new memberships may add $5.00 for each additional month to lengthen its yearly subscription for June and July.

    There will be coaches sign in sheets provided at all meets. Coaches must sign in with their USAG number before being allowed on the floor. This will have to be attached to the Sanction form and sent in to the National Office just like the judges have to do. All coaches will have to wear their USAG cards at all meets.

    Georgia State Games will be held July 17-19 at Life College.
