GEORGIA USA Gymnastics Board Meeting

The 2002-2003 Georgia Competitive Calendar is posted on the Georgia website. www.gausag.org

Website:

A discussion was raised regarding the amount of work that is required to keep the website updated. A suggestion to place a bid form in the next newsletter for a website manager. This would be a paid position with the possibility of a non-voting board position.

New Business

  1. Compulsory Numbers - A request was made by the State Administrator to submit the number of atheletes each club will potentially have at each level for the 2002-2003 season. With these numbers in hand the board voted to divide the state meets as indicated:
    1. Level 4 Dec 13-15
    2. Level 5 Dec 6-8
    3. Level 6 Nov 15-17
    4. Level 7 March 22-23
    5. Level 8, 9, & 10 March 14-16

    A recommendation was made to keep the compulsory qualifying score at a 31.00 AA to be scored once.

    5. Level 8, 9, 10 declaration date: Feb 24, 2003

    Team Finals:
    A recommendation was made to continue team finals for Level 5 and 6 and to add team finals for Level 4 conducting them in the same manner as the Level 5 and 6 finals.

    A recommendation was made to increase the team entry fee at all state to $40.00.

    A recommendaiton was made to increase the team entry fee at Team Finals to $60.00. This increasae will help offset the cost of running Team Finals. Failure to report at the designated time (after the last session of Competitors) will result in the removal of that team from finals. A check in the amout of $60.00 must be presented at that meeting.

  4. Competition Fees

    5. A recommendation was made to keep the athlete competition fee at $2.00 for all State Meets. MOTION: Wynn Hernandez

    6. A recommendation was made to continue the 50% presentation of awards. The top 25% receive medals the second 25% receive ribbons.

    A recommendation was made to divide each session at compulsory State Meets into two equal ages. This division was made for awards purposes. Each session will also be divided by gymnasts Birth dates.

    SUMMER COACHES CONGRESS: June 7-9, 2002

    Chris Calvert will give a Safety Certification Course on Friday June 7th at 4:00-8:00 at Roswell Gymnastics. There will also be a USA meeting on Saturday, June 8th at 5:00 AAU announcements will be made.

    VAULT TABLE

    A recommendation was made to provide the Regular Vault and the Vault Table at Level 5 and 6 State Meets. Coaches will be given the opportunity to use either vault.
